I have been playing with slots for more than 30 years now and have setup many accounts in the hope of quickly making up a few hundred dollars. Slowly but surely, without fail, I have built up a rather substantial collection of WSOP (World Series of Poker) winning slot machine chips.
It didn’t really take me that long to realize that the easy pickins were pretty much non-existent. So I set out to study some of the most difficult games I could find, pushing the boundaries as far as I could to find what made the best payouts, and what games were the best to play. What I came away with was a list of what I considered the most profitable, or least profitable games for the purposes of playing. Some were the obvious choices, but others were slightly more tricky. Here are what I considered the four best games to play, and why:
1 – Jacks or Better (Jacks or Better)
Almost everyone knows the rules for this game, and it’s by far the best bet in the casino. Most casinos offer the standard version of this game, and if you’re lucky enough to find it in Las Vegas or Atlantic City, you can pretty much find a machine that accepts coins. The house advantage is low, depending on number of coins used, but, overall, very friendly.
2 – Wild qualified faro (Jackpot Joy)
qualifier faro adds a whole new dimension to this classic. The beauty of Jokers’ Wild is that you can play up to ten credits each spin, which gives you a lot more opportunities to win. The downside is that the number of winnings is relatively low, compared to many of the other games discussed here. Overall, it’s still a lot of fun.
3 – 20-30-40 (Treasures of Troy)
Fourty-Five pounds seems to be the usual amount of money you’ll find to take home a casino winnings. 20-30-40 is slightly less, since not every machine will pay out 40 coins to start with, but if you hit majors, and there’s five people in your group, you could find yourself with a good ten pounds on the line. Unlikely, yes, but since the probability for hitting a jackpot is 1 in 40, you will find that life has a lot of relatively low winning chances, compared to most casino games. Expect a payout of about 8 to 1 when you bet the maximum amount of coins. The royal flushes and four of a kind are Rare. The Odds are of 10.4% and 8.8% respectively.
4 – 5-Stars (The Price is Right)
The 5-Stars slot machine will not win you the biggest jackpots, but it is by far one of the most affordable. Typically, you can win something as little as 2 or 3 coins, then a double, triple, etc, Downside to this game is that the number of coins needed to win often pre-flop and on the flop are both low. It’s a game of when, not if. Due to the number of possible combinations, some have found it more profitable to play a more conservative game of Let it Ride than a more aggressive game of 3 Coin Bluff.
